The Maui County Council’s Agriculture, Diversified Agriculture, and Food Security Committee has advanced a pivotal bill aimed at allowing more space for secondary farm dwellings on agricultural lands, potentially transforming the island’s farming landscape. Council Member Tasha Kama chairs the Housing and Land Use Committee on Wednesday morning. The committee voted 8-1 to advance to the full council a bill to expand the amount of space allowed in secondary farm dwellings in agricultural districts on Maui and Lānaʻi.
