62 Maui Students Receive College Scholarships from Realtors® Association of Maui Community Foundation

IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS CAN MAKE THE DREAM OF COLLEGE A REALITY FOR MANY STUDENTS. NOT ONLY DO SCHOLARSHIPS HELP MAKE HIGHER EDUCATION POSSIBLE FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T AFFORD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET, YET THEY CAN ALSO SPARE CASH-STRAPPED COLLEGE GRADUATES THE ANGST OF ENTERING “THE REAL WORLD” WITH A CLOUD OF DEBT.

Since its inception in 1989, the RAMCF Presidential Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $812,000 in academic scholarships to college-bound high school seniors throughout Maui County, as well as past scholarship recipients (past recipients can apply every year they are in school up to four years).

The RAMCF Presidential Scholarship Fund is made possible by the generous donations of RAM’s Realtor® and Affiliate members and the Maui community.

This year, a total of 62 Maui County students were selected as scholarship recipients of the Realtors Association of Maui Community Foundation Presidential Scholarship Fund.

The academic scholarships were awarded to students from Maui, Lāna’i and Moloka’i, who will be pursuing degrees at colleges and universities across the country this fall.

“It is my honor to serve on the Scholarship Selection Committee each year where we score the applicants using a well crafted grading system to determine the final recipients” said Dave Futch, who sits on the RAMCF Presidential Scholarship Fund Review Committee.

“In years past, there has been an awards ceremony followed by a luncheon where we sit with the students and their parents. They are all so gracious and appreciative and share their plans with their peers. It is a beautiful thing.

Dave Futch continued, “This year, with the social distancing, the presentation will not be the same. Lets do our part to end the pandemic and bring back the awards ceremony and honorary luncheon!”

Applications for next year’s RAMCF Presidential Scholarship will be available in early 2021. To be eligible, students must be a high school senior or a former recipient of the scholarship (from the previous three years) and must be in the process of applying or reapplying to an accredited college or university or trade school.
